Hygiene

For cleaner, healthier teeth and gums.

Attending regular hygiene appointments will ensure your mouth remains clean and healthy. A chief part of a dental hygienist’s role is to remove plaque and tartar deposits by ‘scaling and polishing’ teeth. They also show you how to look after your teeth at home to help prevent gum disease, caused by the bacteria in plaque. They demonstrate brushing and flossing techniques, and how to use interdental brushes, as well as offering healthy diet advice.

You may need special hygiene advice if you have a bridge, denture or dental implant or you wear fixed braces.
